So, I get my shiny new 744 yesterday and begin playing around with it and setting up my bag. I bought the accessory cables for TA3 to Male and Female XLR. I start thinking about if there was a situation where I would want to patch from from somebodies coax SPDIF, or possibly try using the SPDIF out from the V3. I thought I had read about people doing this. So I go to look at accessory cables today and, uhhhh, I don't see any. I call sound devices to ask them what they normally do, and it took 5 minutes to explain what I was talking about, and the guy was like "that's a good question, I'll have to get back to you". So, I'm pretty sure I've read about this here, did you guys make a custom BNC->RCA SPDIF cable? Am I crazy?

I'm not positive I understand what you're trying to accomplish. Do you want to run a V3's RCA S/PDIF output to the 744's BNC S/PDIF input? If so, a standard RCA | RCA 75-ohm cable + an RCA | BNC adapter should do the trick.

an bnc to rca adapter is all ya need - they come in straight and right angle flavors.

i have had success going both direction w/ a ratshack bnc to RCA adapter they are only a few bucks, i generally use a generic HOSA spidif cable

Thanks guys, I appreciate it. I didn't know there was such a thing as a BNC->RCA adapter. I see a trip to ratshack in my future.
