Nop.
The MR1 can only record 2 channels anyway - so stereo it is.
You could get things out of the line-outs on the SD744T, but remember that those signals has gone through AD and DA inside the SD box.

   It makes sense that the line out would provide the 4 channel mix...ie: 4 in 2 out

Yes, you can select to put, say, sum of input 1 and 3 to Left and sum of input 2 and 4 on Right. (Or just about any combination).

There are a few disadvantages though. First is that you have very little control over the relative volumes, no mixer as such only on/off. But main disadvantage is if what you are after is the "heavenly sound" of the MR1, the sound is already "spoiled" by the 744. The reason is that it is first AD-converted and this is the signal recorded on disc. Secondly it is DA-converted and output to the line-out. And after that it gets AD-converted again in the MR1. Now, admittedly both AD and DA in the 744 are good stuff.

This is going to be your biggest disadvantage, but if you run really conservatively you should be fine. Just make sure your routing on the 744t is set properly. The MR1 doesn't clip until +3db right? Seems I remember reading that when recording with DSD so that might give you a little leeway. Give it a whirl. Nothing to lose.

....I have it set up now where the MR-1 is coming off of the RCA analog out of the V-2 off off my U89's...as a back up recorder.

   Then I got the idea of a 4 channel DSD...I'm doing Philly and VA Panic in a week or so.  I'll report back with the results.

Love the 744T, the 4 channel stuff blows me away. Taped upwards of 500 shows and the first 4 channel, 24bit I did with my 744t was in the top ten I've done, no doubt


...honestly the MR-1 is more of a toy. It's cool when I don't or can't bring the whole gear bag...I like to use it in the car with the Ipod jack on my car stereo.
