Denon DVD-3910 Firmware?
« on: September 17, 2017, 03:54:46 PM »
Just picked up a used Denon DVD-3910 and I need to get the latest firmware to at the very least enable Denon Link 3rd so I can run SACD over digitally to my AVR-3808ci

Anybody here know where I can get a copy - looks like Denon pulled this off there site and support can't provide copies anymore.

Thanks! I was able to DL the latest from the denon eu website and flash it enabling Link 3rd and fixing HDMI (the output wasn't working)

It had the original firmware on it from 2004.

The region stayed 1 after the flash - I was successful in putting in the region free activation code afterwards as well

I was able to pick from NTSC or PAL in the settings

What this means is that the European firmware worked on my US model

One other thing I had to do to get it fully functional was to clean the lens on the laser with a cotton ball with nothing on it (I didn't have a cotton swab) - So if you have a DVD/BluRay/CD player that stops reading discs first clean the lens - took about 30-45 minutes and cost nothing.

There are a lot of threads where people have units not reading some disc types after time.  They send them away for $400 repairs when a simple cleaning of the lens may have fixed their issues.  From what I have read you cannot trust disc based lens cleaners and you need to open the unit and manually clean the lens (albeit lightly clean it)

The unit I got would play CD's, DVD's SACD's but could not play SACD Hybrid discs - after I cleaned the laser they worked fine.
