Replacing a source on the Archive
« on: July 26, 2004, 01:09:47 AM »
I have reconverted a tape that I converted a while back that had pops due to my newbie-ness and a non bit-perfect transfer setup.  How do I go about replacing the original upload with the new one.....possibly keeping the comments that have already been made for the show.

Well I know that you can email and report a problem with the source and it goes straight to whomever's moderating the band and they will do what you say basically.  There is a little link for reporting a problem with it.  Somone had upped a tim reynolds show I did with the wrong text file (they wrote their own) and had it put up in every lossy method under the sun (something I didn't appreciate) so I emailed the guy who runs it, and he was more then helpful and took off the lossy forms for me.  I would assume they could delete the show and let you up a new one.

I guess it depends who mods the band, they could be activly involved with it or not care very much, the guy in charge of the Tim Reynolds was very prompt, I think he may even be a member of this board, though i'm not sure.  In any case he got right to it.

don't file error reports. they're worthless. i've had some sitting unattended for 5 fucking months now. e-mail etree@archive.org or perhaps jon@archive.org and they should be able to direct you..

I agree - error reports don't get tended to quickly at all. I've had a simple info file swap pending for months now, not that it's particularly urgent. And sirchek, I'm pretty sure there aren't per-band mods - there's just a few mods for the entire archive. I'm not sure there are ways to migrate the comments over, though...but definitely email them or post on the board and it's quicker that way.

Same thing happened to me with my first show. Finally (after a couple months of waiting with no results) I just uploaded the new version, and put a one-star review on the old one asking for the new transfer to be downloaded.

not all mods have the same permissions either. my friend tyler is a mod on there but can't swap/delete files...
