V2>DMIC-20
« on: August 18, 2003, 12:52:16 PM »
Anyone have any tapes of this rig?  I would prefer some AKG mics, 391s or 480s.  Im interested to hear how this would sound.  I really like what i have heard of the DMIC-20.  I have also liked what i have heard of the V3.  But isn't the the V2 the same as the V3 just no a/d pre?  Is it the pre of the V3 that makes the big difference or is it the a/d?  Id like to hear your thoughts.

I don't think you can go line in on the DMIC, but I could be wrong.  If you're looking for similar sound you might want to look at V2>ADC-20, as I think the ADC-20 has the same A/D as the DMIC.

My guess on these combo's, based on the sounds of the two units, is clear sound, maybe too clear.

YMMV, though

couldn't you run xlr out of the V2 into the DMIC-20?

ah thats true.  I had attention focused more on using the V2's pre and just the DMIC-20's a/d.  But i guess i can't get around the DMIC-20's pre.  Thanks guys.

you should just go with adc-20 if you want an a/d coming out of the v2

i'd definately go the v2 > adc-20 route instead.  the adc-20 is very easy to use (once it is calibrated you don't need to do any adjusting) and can be found used for dirt cheap.

chris - i was running 481(3) > mp2 > adc-20 for awhile and really liked the combination but recently upgraded to a 140 > mme setup.  i think i've found a buyer for the adc-20 and i'm going back and forth about keeping / selling the mp2.  considering the market for them right now i think i'll hold onto mine for a bit and do some mp2 > mme vs. mme comparisons.
