Title: Tell me someone taped this
Post by: rosaliemcphall on March 24, 2004, 10:38:26 PM
--- In nyc-
Edgar Meyer, Sam Bush, Jerry Douglas
Brooklyn Museum of Art
Cantor Auditorium
Wed, March 24, 7pm

This is absolutely true. I'm the one who told Aaron about it, but
it was a complete accident that I even heard of it. This is
possibly the most poorly promoted cool show ever. No one at Edgar's
label (Sony Classical) even knew about it. They didn't even know he
was going to be in New York.

Last week, while setting up some radio events around the upcoming
Fleck/Meyer classical record, I found a peculiar entry on Edgar's
travel schedule for March 24 - "Orpheus - Brooklyn Museum of Art
with Sam and Jerry."

After about 15 failed Googlings, I found this link at the Orpheus
website - http://www.orpheusnyc.com/ThreePlaces/#Borders

A source I won't identify told me that the people at the Orpheus
Chamber Orchestra rarely promote these free shows beyond their
website, mailing list & WNYC. Neither of us could remember anytime
that Meyer, Bush & Douglas performed in NYC as a trio, and that this
really should have been publicized more heavily. And then they make
people jump through hoops to get the free tickets.

Incidentally, WNYC's "Soundcheck" show on Friday 3/26 at 2pm will
feature performances and interviews with Edgar, Sam & Jerry as well
as Ollabelle.
