Gettin' the itch? I miss my M21's. With the euro fluctuations over the last year or so, I watch the prices quite often to see if there is any change.

Caps and bodies. Not a matched pair. Should I even worry about that? Really don't want the bodies, but they're part of the deal.

I wouldn't worry too much about matching, although Gefell does provide that service.

Thanks, but I'm passing. Don't want the bodies and don't want to have to deal with trying to sell them. I'll find the caps someday.

I bought a used set of Gefells with bodies, sold them, and bought another.  The way the sellers had them priced, the caps are the valuable part, so the bodies were $800/pair on the first one, and $600/pair on the second round.  Caps were in the $800-900 range for a pair.  I think these prices are a little on the "low side", in both instances I thought I got a good deal.  For instance I had a set of bodies with black hyper caps, and silver card caps came up, which wasn't what I was looking for, but the seller offered them to me for $800 because he was anxious to sell.  I don't think that sets "the going rate".

In both instances they are "close enough that I can't tell the difference" as far as matching goes.

You just missed Vintage King's Black Friday pricing of $859 for an M210.  Their regular price is 10% higher at $954.

I had thought about selling my MG gear multiple times but could never bring myself to do it.

In my head I think $1000 for the bodies is very fair.

As far as the caps go, I think I have more invested into them and I will get in return.
Back in 2009 when I got my M21 caps I paid $1300. They were black and I wanted silver to match my M20 and bodies so I mailed them to Germany and had the cases changed and matched. That whole process set me back another $500-600 after shipping.

In 2008 I sent my M20 caps to Germany to be matched and bodies and at the same time had the bodies checked for any issues.

If I was to sell the caps I would look to get at least $1000(more like $1200) for a pair as they are matched(recently checked at Telafunken in CT this year) and I have the graphs and papers from MG.

I like to run both the bodies and actives. I am going to have Nick mod my cables for the nBox very soon as I just sold my V3. So if I ever do sell it will all be sold as a complete package.

I didn't see that. Was looking at Full Compass. $859 was a very good price?

I would say that is a great price for cap and body.

Whew, so glad I missed the Vintage King sale, I need another mic like a hole in the head but I do love those MG's.

VK has run that 10% off sale before so if you keep an eye out you may find the sale again. Also note that VK doesn't list matched pairs last I checked, just single mics not that it really matters much to some but may be a big deal to others.

I don't know anything about this seller, but they currently have M21 (all) capsules at $649/each.

I'm leary of that site/company since they show a retail price of $800 which is woefully out-of-date; they only list email and phone contact info; no street address and buried deep on one of their terms-of pages is a reference to the laws of Orange County California being the governing laws should any disputes arise. They may be legit but companies dealing in church sound (not Chris Church) seem to have more problems than companies dealing in other types of sound reinforcement. Carl, didn't you have problems with a similar company in the Nashville area wrt some AKG caps?

Indeed I did have a problem with a similar company when I purchased my CK63 caps. That company eventually made it right but it took some time. That was the first thing I thought of when I saw this link but it is not the same company.  Regardless I would be leary of any internet company with little to no information on their website identifying who & where they were.

Legitimate dealer/distributors for Microtech Gefell microphones are listed on http://www.microtechgefell.de/index.php/de/vertretungen/amerika . They include--just to name the obvious, nationwide brand among them--Full Compass. Among the smaller companies there's Parsons Audio (www.paudio.com).

If you want fresh stock, and customer support in case of problems, I recommend going with the dealer/distributors that the manufacturer says are legit.
