Title: Panther - Mac OS 10.3
Post by: John Kelly on June 28, 2003, 08:56:52 PM
I recently installed 10.3 on my iBook, and I tried out recording last night at Carbon Leaf in Norfolk.  I was using the latest version of Spark ME.  The recording went flawlessly.  In fact, it's the first time I've used Spark on my iBook and NOT had a problem.  So if anyone was thinking about upgrading to the 10.3 preview, I say go for it. ;)

I don't know because I have an AD-20 which only puts out a 20bit digital signal (really 16 bits with 4 bits of zeros from what I have read).  Care to send me some equipment to test out 24 bit? ;)

I'll see if I can test something out on Friday at the Gin Blossoms...

Edit - 10.3 seems to have broken Sound Studio, which is what i use to track all my shows.  Any recommendations on what to use now (I have Peak 3.2 and Spark ME at my disposal).  Thanks.

you can test the emi 2|6 at 24 bit without a 24 bit a/d.  set it up to do 24 bit and choose "best format" instead of 16 bit

then feed it a digi signal from the ad20 and then try it with an analog signal.

it won't see any input signal with "best format" chosen in anything pre 10.3

Ok.  I've got a show tomorrow and another one on Friday, I'll check it out and let you know.

Any recommendations for tracking, though?

peak can track fine

but let me get this straight:  you installed a buggy "developer's preview" os as your main OS on the laptop?  not sure if i'd recommend that....

I use beta software all the time, but I always make sure I have some kind of backup in case my computer goes down.  But I must say, I've yet to make Panther crash, and I've actually tried to do it.

beta software is one thing, but an OS that's not even beta yet (i don't think) is another....hehe

Real quick.  I'm trying to track a show in Peak, and I've got markers set where I want.  But I can't seem to find how to split the show up.  Any advice???  Please?  :D

select all, "export regions" in file menu
