First off thanks to all that reply to questions in this forum. I've been lurking here for a few weeks and I can't express to you the wealth of knowledge I've pulled from here!
I've searched the forums to no avail for any info regarding digital coax cables. I Just bought a p20 the other day and I need a cable to patch with. So far I've heard opinions on cables from monster and apogee. One guy told me that monsters are the best, another told me that monsters aren't good for your jack. Help a confused newbie! :)

i've been using cobalt blue cables for awhile now and have never had any problems with them. they are a little on the pricey side, though

I've had no problems with Monster Cables in the past, but there definitely are better cables out there...

I like the Apogee Wyde-Eye. You can get them off the Apogee website for about $50. If you don't want to spend that much, I have also heard good things about the regular Radio Shack digital cables with the gold connectors.

My take, and I know some have differing opinions:
Buy a cheap digital coax cable. As long as it can transmit the 0s and 1s with sufficient shielding to prevent data loss (which basically all of the cheapies do for our purposes), you'll be fine. I've had fine experiences using the orange Radio Shack cable with gold connectors.

^^ yeah, even the 24bitfaq.org site says the cheapo Radio Shack cable is more than fine as it is bit-transparent...and for taping that is all that is needed!

Rat Shack
Canare

Canare hand made lv-77s cable, or the rat shack performer series or something like that.

i've used the ratshack cable w/ no problems but i recently made my own s/pdif cable using canare lv-61s cable and switchcraft connectors which works great. if you're handy w/ a soldering iron i'd definately suggest making your own, i made mine w/ a right angle on one side of the cable and the total cost came out to $6.50.
for a picture of the cable i built check out: http://www.taperssection.com/yabbse/index.php?board=20;action=display;threadid=6595
it's in the second picture.

T+ for helping the gn00bie!
I swear this is a fantastic resource, I've been referring to this page as the "bible" lately!
I'll be sure to letcha know how my first pull comes out, should go off without a hitch as I'm merely patching. but you can always forget to press record eh?
good weekend ya'll-

Well it arrived this morning so I did not get a chance to run it this weekend. Next weekend will be the next opportunity that I'll have to run it! Can't wait, I'm like a kid in a candy store!
