Title: Dat cleaning/reallignment help.
Post by: sexymexi on September 15, 2003, 03:44:19 PM
hey i finally moved up to the world of DATs, and i need to get it cleaned and possible realligned.  i'm from Cedar Rapids, IA, and i don't know where to go, or send my dat to have this done.  i think i know an old man that runs a old repair shop, and he could probably do it, but he overcharges on everything, so any help would be greatfull.

Loads of folks here will chime in on this one with the same answer:  www.prodigitalinc.com/ (http://www.prodigitalinc.com/)  I just beat them to it because I'm multitasking during a useless conference call.

i think it's probably best to avoid this route when using DAT machines, they seem to be more difficult than every other piece of electronic equipment ever made.

Definitely, especially the Sony portables. I've got a very reliable shop here in the Boston area that's done my Tascam and Panasonic home decks but they wouldn't touch my Sony because they said it's such a pain in the ass to open up and do right.
