Topic: XP x64 & EAC

Anyone else using XP x64?  I can get EAC to install but I cannot get it to run for the life of me.  Any guidance would rock.

To the OP - What version of EAC are you running?  Can you give us a bit more info in what you're running system-wise?

OK, this just got a bit odd.  v0.99 pb5

My home machine that this WILL NOT run on is a hand-built using a Gigabyte P35c motherboard, 4GB DDR3, Windows XP x64.  It has 2 DVD drives and while it installs fine once I execute it from my desktop link it just hangs.  I have tried to run it in compatibility mode to no avail.  I have tried the last two install files, pb4 and pb5.

I just installed this on my work machine which is a Dell i920, 3GB RAM, XP x64 and it installs and runs fine.  ODD.

My new question is that I have had weird lagging issues on my home PC for a few weeks.  Do you think that a bad RAM DIMM might have to do with this not executing properly?

Testing your memory is never a bad idea. I'm not sure if your problem is related...

To the OP - What version of EAC are you running?  Can you give us a bit more info in what you're running system-wise?

The point was to go to the source and read the manual.  What a concept.  I see no one has come up with a solution.  I wonder  if maybe the author and the folks who support EAC would know more about the package than a random assembly of tapers?  A thought ot ponder.

However, my EAC works.  You guys can fix your own problems, no doubt.  When all else fails, RTFM.

So instead of having any actual knowledge your standard advice is 'go read the manual'?   Thanks for enlightening us all with your grand wisdom of reading the manual.  How did we all get this far without that incredible slice of knowledge.   

Looks like a question for more info was asked and then a suggestion was given and we haven't heard back from the OP yet.  So the suggestion may now be a solution.

Actually I had.  I also used a BMN account to post my query to their forums as well as read a half dozen or so GoogHits to see how folks were dealing with EAC 64 bit issues.  Nothing worked.

In my time of interwebbin I have found ts.com a pretty valuable resource.  While I found little information came out of my OP today I do appreciate the efforts above.  If tickets were still around I would have likely used them both.

You might have a RAM 'problem'. Have you verified all the timings for the RAM and that they are correct? Your unsteady comment seems to indicate to me that may be at least one of the problems? Nowadays, you cannot just install RAM and set the BIOS to auto config. 99% of the time setting it to 'Auto' will assign the wrong timings and give you BSODs, random reboots, erratic behavior, etc. Check your mobo and RAM specs. You might also read the forums on your mobo manufacturers site for other tweaks people used to get optimal settings. Make sure your RAM is actually supported by the mobo too. Here is a brief bit on RAM timings if you are unfamiliar.

Ran Memtest+ and the RAM passed fine.  Ran Malwarebytes while at work yesterday and came home to a black screen.  Windows wont boot and my drive is starting to click although Ubuntu sees it fine.

Needless to say that I think that I discovered the EAC problem and this is the nudge I needed to give W7 RTM a whirl.

A little late, but....

I had the exact same problem some time ago (also running XP x64). It was an aspi issue. I was able to fix it by switching to the Nero aspi .dll.
