Can I make a decent recording w/o a battery box
« on: March 14, 2004, 02:54:26 PM »
My battery box broke, and i have Metallica to tape next weekend and i don't think i could fix the thing by that time, and i was wondering how can i get a decent sounding recording with no clipping on my Sony MZ-R700 Md recorder w/o using the box? Also, should i just plug the mic into the line-in or the mic-in? any suggestions will be appreciated.

man if you're taping metallica you're gonna need a batt box.  you will be forced to use the mic-in on your recorder without one and your internal pre cannot handle the sound of such a loud rock band.

What he said.  No way you'll go mic > MD without clipping.
