Would an A/D converter be neccessary for a SBD>MZ-R909 patch?

Just about all SBD patches are analog.  I'm assuming the MZ-R909 is an MD recorder.  In that case, you'll use your MD's ADC and receive an analog signal from the SBD.

The catch is ensuring the SBD signal isn't so strong as to overload your analog input on the MD recorder.  Run line-in if the MD recorder has the option.  Otherwise you'll either need attenuators between the board feed and your deck, or need to ask the sound engineer to turn the levels waaaaay down.

Hey Brian, I've seen you and a few others mention attentuators here a few times, and was wondering what they are, exactly...is it a cable or something more like a regulator? I'm just curious as to what it's physical manifestation is :)
