Filtering BG noise
« on: November 23, 2004, 09:58:08 AM »
My friend and I recorded a show recently, but it has a lot of background noise, is there a program or some way to filter it out?

Define "background noise"?  If it's a consistent sound like an air conditioner / heater or fan, you may be able to isolate the sound (if you're exceedingly lucky) and apply NR to remove it.  If you're talking about crowd chatter, you're SOL.

if the noise is low enough in level you might be able to noise gate it. Worth a try, see if it sounds ok to your ears.

Ya we actually figured it out, it was a mix of crowd/buzzing from being close to a stereo.  We reduced it somewhat.  Better than what it was before.
