Yet another "What to buy?"...
« on: October 30, 2005, 11:47:29 AM »

In the early nineties, me and my brother bought a Sony WM-D6 with a Marantz microphone and recorded a bunch of shows (mostly hardrock and heavy metal).

I would like to convert these show and other that we traded for to my computer and then make available on the internet.

I have searched around the site, but haven't found the answer to my question.

Question 1: What gear do I have to buy to make this a reality?

I have a Creative Live! Drive II (model: CT4860) and a Creative Soundblaster Live! (CT4760). The Live Drive II has both RCA and Optical inputs.

Question 2: Is this something I can use or do I have to buy something new?

That's it for now. I hope you guys can help me out with this...

OT: What bands did you tape? You're into my kind of music :)

There are two rigs considered to be "the best" in one of the communities I'm a part of, for which the majority of the concert recordings are on analog tape:

The first is this: Nakamichi DR-8 ->LynxONE analog-in
The second one is this: Nakamichi DR-8 > Echo Layla24

If you've just got a few tapes, I can probably hook you up with these people to do it for you, probably for free if they are of bands that you're interested in. That would save the cost/hassle of purchasing gear for just a few tapes, or settling for a substandard result.

OT: Alice Cooper, Black Sabbath, Bon Jovi, Bryan Adams, Def Leppard, Guns N' Roses, Metallica, Mötley Crüe, Nirvana, Queensrÿche, Scorpions, Tesla, White Lion to name a few...

I also have many tapes that I have traded for, so I would like to do it myself, but thanks anyway...
