do you guys "eq"? what i mean is, when i cut down the bass, i "hear" a slight noise and see the little light on the screen that says EQ come on. does this mean it is no longer *direct*?

Yes, it no longer means it's direct. At this point, you're digitally manipulating the stream. Don't worry about the slight noise. Mine does it too.

At least you got rid of the Blows er I mean Bose   ;D   I'm assuming those were the 301's

i kept them. i blew one the paper 8's years ago, and replaced them w/ free-air rockford fosgates.   ;D

I think that even in direct mode that you mention, there is some DSP going on.
I shut off my EQ, and I can't make adjustments at all.  what you see is what you get.

in the menu.  there is an EQ off/on option.  shut it off and then all tone controlls are grayed out and unobtainable.
