Did my first 4 channel recording yesterday [Tascam DR-2d] with CA-14 cards in an XY configuration with CA-14 omni's in an AB configuration. Do I apply the same principle as I saw in an Audacity thread in this forum ? Besides listening to both recordings and seeing what each needs and going with "less is more" when it comes to mastering/matrixing can anyone provide  some insight with using iZotope RX 2 Advanced with all the plugins.
Mics: CA-14 (o,c,o)
Remote Power: CA-9100 pre-amp, CA-UBB battery box
Recorders: Sony PCM-M10, Tascam DR-2d
Cable/s: custom 6" GAKables Mini Starquad
Batteries: Maha 9.6V Imedion, Maha Powerex 2700 mAh
Chargers: Maha MH-C9000, MAHA MH-C490F 9 Volt

Unless I'm misunderstanding what you're intending to do here, I don't think Rx would be my first choice of program.

It's more about audio restoration (getting rid of crackes and hums etc) whereas I think you need something with the ability to change the volume, eq etc of the two stereo tracks and then render them to a single stereo track.

I use Sony Vegas for this but it sounds like Audacity would do it too.

I would use Rx for taming any coughs, squeaks or hums you might have in either recording and definitely for the final resampling and dithering of your mixed file.

Apologies if I'm getting the wrong end of the stick here.

agreed. I don't recall Rx allowing you to mix from 4 tracks down to 2.
"This is a common practice we have on the bus; debating facts that we could easily find through printed material. It's like, how far is it today? I think it's four hours, and someone else comes in at 11 hours, and well, then we'll... just... talk about it..." - Jeb Puryear

I like Reaper for rendering 4 tracks (or more) down to 2.   Works with Mac or PC

You can evaluate the full software without any restrictions for as long as you want.
