Title: AT853 and Phantom
Post by: pridix on January 13, 2012, 01:03:21 PM
Hi everyone:

I'm new in the forum and in the tapers world... I have been listening to bootlegs for years and  I think I should start to tape by myself.

Anyway, here is the question:

1.I have just bought a Tascam DR40 recorder. This recorder comes with Phantom in the XLR and also in the 1/4 jack. As far as I know...the Phantom gives 48v, isn't? I'm also close to buy a pair of AT853 with 1/8 jack and I don't know which voltage they need...Will the work taking just the required voltage from the Phantom or I'll probably damage them if they need less voltage.

2. If I have another pair of microphones which needs between 2-10v and I use the Phantom I'll damage them?

The two question can be summarize in the next: If I have a recorder with 48v Phantom, can I use with it every microphone which needs 48v or less without damage them? If I have Phantom I'll also need battery box or something like that?

Thank you so much...

Daniel
