Hi all,
out of curiosity I measured the data transfer rate of my PCM-M10 as a card reader. Thought this would be interesting.
Here my setup:
- Netbook Samsung N 150 Plus with Win 7 Starter and built-in SD card reader
- Sandisk 128MB Micro SD card
- Sandisk Micro SD to SD adapter
- Sony PCM-M10
- Software H2testw V1.4 from
http://www.heise.de/software/download/h2testw/50539This software tests data integrity and speed of external memory. Its freeware and was written as a test tool by the German computer magazine c´t. It helped me find an USB stick with defective blocks. I check every new USB memory stick and memory card with this extremely useful tool.
Here my results:
Card: SanDisk 128MB in SanDisk adapter, plugged into Netbook:
Test finished without errors.
You can now delete the test files *.h2w or verify them again.
Writing speed: 2.54 MByte/s
Reading speed: 9.20 MByte/s
H2testw v1.4
Same card, read from Sony PCM-M10 via USB
Test finished without errors.
Reading speed: 4.36 MByte/s
H2testw v1.4
Over 4MB per second or 4 minutes per GB... I think I will invest some time and reduce wear and tear on the M10s Micro SD card connector and read from the M10.
Greetings,
Rainer
