Was I too harsh?
« on: October 18, 2004, 12:07:11 PM »
[12:00] delerious mishap: Hi. Are you there?
[12:00] taperkat: Hello?
[12:00] delerious mishap: hi i found your aim handle on pmb's message forum
[12:00] delerious mishap: my name is jamie, and i'm from chicago
[12:01] taperkat: hiya
[12:01] delerious mishap: apparently, you have quite a library of music
[12:02] delerious mishap: http://db.etree.org/taperkat
[12:02] taperkat: Right.
[12:02] taperkat: and it's very outdated
[12:03] delerious mishap: i was wondering if there was any way i could get your recordings of pmb's shows in chicago which i attended
[12:03] taperkat: No, I'm sorry. I'm not trading.
[12:03] taperkat: My burner doesn't work.
[12:03] delerious mishap: that's ok
[12:03] delerious mishap: could we work out a digital file transfer?
[12:04] taperkat: No.
[12:04] delerious mishap: why not?
[12:04] taperkat: I'm currently seeding 2 shows and I need to get those finished in a week. Then I'm gone for 3 weeks.
[12:04] delerious mishap: seeding?
[12:04] delerious mishap: i don't know what that is
[12:05] taperkat: It means I have to get shows to over 50 people in a week.
[12:05] delerious mishap: r u running a business?
[12:05] taperkat: I have my own business unrelated to taping.
[12:05] delerious mishap: ok
[12:06] delerious mishap: so you're telling me i'm shit out of luck?
[12:06] taperkat: Do you see on that etree.org page at the top?
[12:07] taperkat: Did you read it at all?
[12:07] delerious mishap: yes
[12:07] taperkat: OTHER THAN THAT, I AM NOT TRADING AT THIS TIME. NOR B+Ping. DO NOT ASK ME UNLESS I TALKED TO YOU AT A SHOW. YOUR MESSAGE GETS DELETED. IF YOU SERIOUSLY THINK YOU CANNOT LIVE WITHOUT ONE OF MY SHOWS, A B+P WILL PROBABLY TAKE 6 MONTHS. (NO, I'M NOT KIDDING)..
[12:07] taperkat: I m ean that.
[12:07] delerious mishap: i am not seeking to trade
[12:07] delerious mishap: i am not seeking a cd
[12:07] taperkat: Right. You're wanting a B+P, without the P.
[12:07] taperkat: I do'nt do that.
[12:07] delerious mishap: i don't understand why you couldn't just set up an ftp server
[12:07] taperkat: Because I do not trade like that.
[12:07] delerious mishap: and grant passwords to those with whom you wish to trade
[12:07] taperkat: Because I do not trade like that.
[12:07] delerious mishap: alright i don't know why you're being so hostile with me
[12:08] taperkat: Plus, they slow down my connection horribly.
[12:08] taperkat: Because you can't fucking read.

SSIA, really. Was I?

I get 5-10 emails a day begging for shows of mine. I delete them 99% of the time.

lol  Nice work, Kat.  Sometimes it's therapeutic to vent at the occasional bozo rather than just ignore them all.  :)

I wouldn't say that you were anywhere close to too harsh...

You say on you list that you are not trading or doing B&Ps.  If people can't or won't read what you have to say, fuck 'em.

hey Meow, Understand your being too busy to do additional trades or seedings so...the question is...why post your list?  It just  begs those who don't read that you don't trade and you wouldn't have as many Es to delete.   Do you know one person that could take that load from you....meaning have someone come over or however you want to hook them up and let them (the proverbial them) deal w/ the seekers from a copy of your work????
I can see this is a sore subject but the faint glimps of getting a B&P from you (from your .... IF YOU SERIOUSLY THINK YOU CANNOT LIVE WITHOUT ONE OF MY SHOWS, A B+P WILL PROBABLY TAKE 6 MONTHS. (NO, I'M NOT KIDDING)..) leads some  the thought it can't hurt to ask...albeit there are many who apparently ask you and you don't like that cause they can't read BUT .....they are reading in a slight chance of getting a copy.
Save yourself some headachs and don't post what you don't want to trade and maybe find a friend who can help w/ the xfr/distributions.

AS for your question of you being too harsh...depends on your tone w/ him....there are many ways to say no.  Of which the person leaving saying I got denied but she was really a nice cat has more to say than the alternative.

Well, I've had that list since I started trading. I haven't updated it (over 200 shows i need to) in over 2 years for that precise reason. I didn't want to take it down, because, well, honestly, it took a fucking LONG time to put it up.  And I know I would never put all those shows up again once I get back into trading.

Plus, the reason I don't have an FTP server is that I've had people say they want shows and then either try to break into my computer (hello, I have watching software and your ISP's phone # isn't that hard to find) or start doing DoS attacks on my ip.

and as well, i've got about a week to get a VH show to 20 people ...

I think the confusion comes in when you invited someone looking for a specific show to take a look at your list. Maybe that should have been done in email or something, but it opens the flood gates for such chaps as "play it loud"....My philosophy, if I don't want to give it out, I don't tell anyone I have it.

Back to the question...too harsh? Nope, not at all....

That is true; however, I do know the kid that I made that post for, at least, we've traded a few times, and for HIM, I would gladly figure out a way to get the show to him. I'm not below being over backwards for someone, especially if they've done it for me in the past.

i called you a bitch and a cocksucker not because you wouldn't trade with me (although that was certainly part of it), but because you were so rude.

classy how you aired your dirty laundry in the forum. people love to read those posts.

taperkat is posting all the pm's i send her, so i just wanted to give a shout out to all the members of this forum, since they all will be reading this.

i am always interested in assisting others in finding music they will enjoy. apparently, i can only speak for myself.

THEN
[12:47] phazzz25: hey this is play it loud
[12:47] phazzz25: shall we try to keep this conflict off the board?

um, idiot, you started it. Bury yourself.

my post back to him on the board:
"And of course, you want to share shows, but you have no problems calling tapers names.

don't bite the hand that feeds you, asshole."

sigh. i have work to do, not deal with children.

While we are on the subject...I was wondering if I could get this one show from you...

It's over now anyway... Well, at least I haven't heard from him in an hour. And it's habit for me to just provide the topics because I know many people are lazy and won't click links.

That's an easy one - use the export to CSV or XML feature, then nuke your list. Presto-changeo, problem solved. You've got a copy for your reference that you can put back up whenever you want.

I took my list down years ago. I was getting like 10 grovels a day and I really want to be nice, but I can't be THAT nice (and this was before readily available broadband so it was a serious PIA).

As for the bitch comment, well that's more a matter of opinion. The other remark is a matter of fact that's either true or not, but I don't necessarily see it as a bad trait in a woman...
