Anyone heard of Taiyo Yuden BurnMaster CD-R's
« on: May 31, 2005, 04:47:42 PM »
Found a listing on eBay for Taiyo Yuden BurnMaster Cd-Rs. He claims they are the Japanese made Taiyos and are just sold under a different brand name - Burn Master. Looks like a great deal for Taiyos if they are legit Japanese Taiyos, just wondering if anyone's heard of them before I buy them.

Thanks for any info you can provide.

If you're concerned about whether they're truly TYs, ask the seller to confirm the manufacturer via CDR Identifier or CDR ATIP Reader.  If they are TYs, I know of no way to tell whether or not they're manufactured in Japan.

FWIW, a quick Google search reveals others are also selling Burnmaster branded TYs.

TY manufactures and sells their discs to many companies who market the discs under their name.  I see no reason, although he could, for the seller to lie about this.  Other than what Skalinder mentioned about the CDR Identifier, there's no other way that I know of to find their source.  If it were me, I'd bid w/ confidence.  As far as I'm concerned, our discs are gonna die sooner or later.

Thanks for your help guys. At first I was concerned because 200 TY's for $25 seemed too cheap to be legit, but witha $20 s/h fee I figure he's compensating. I'm gonna go ahead and BIN.

Thanks Again.
