PLS HELP: FIRST attempt with OKM-IIr and SONY MZ-RH1
« on: June 21, 2006, 10:04:23 AM »
Hi mates,
I'm back from a long holiday and finally deceided to buy some stuff for taping instead of only downloading stuff from others.
1st attempt will be at the Stadthalle in Vienna, Austria when Devildriver, Soulfly and the Deftones will perform.  >:D

Equipment:
Mics: Soundman OKM II Rock
Recorder: Sony MZ-RH1, manual

Questions:
1) I assume it is better to plug my mics into line-in than into Mic-in?
2) Do I need a battery/filter module or is the OKM A3 Adapter a similar thing?
3) recommended A3 settings: "Linear Attenuation" -20dB |and| "Low Frequency Roll Off" set to position "-" (linear) - correct?
4) Maybe hard to answer: is it better to record in front of the stack or the SBD?
5) Any other uswful hints here pls.  ;)

Thanks for your help - hope to achieve a good result as I am very picky concerning the sound quality.
If everything worked out well I'll put it on dime.

cheers
OLLi

hmm no replies but this is the first time i've seen this post so...

1) i would go line in.  i remember getting lower levels (raised them in post) but less hiss during quiter shows.
2) i would assume so.  keep the bass roll on the lowest possible setting w/ the -20 db att on. otherwise you'll cut out all the bass.
3) above
4) your call. i normally did FOS.
5) have fun.  be carefull w/ these mics. they're kinda delicate compared to other mics.
