FS in my town:  B&W Matrix 803 S2 w/ Sound Anchor base stands for $1100 OBO.  Only one problem.....piano white!   :o

http://cls.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cls.pl?spkrfull&1130098734

I know the fiance would not be pleased with piano white....but it is my birthday next week.  Might be able to use that to my advantage.  Since I'm local, I could probably work the price down to $1000.  I've sent a email stating I want to give the speakers a test drive.

Anyone know of a good way to hide a piano white speaker?  A tapesty probably won't fly for her, sorry Nick.    ;)

Edit: Bought em.  Pictures below!!!!

I'd buy them in a heartbeat.  I love things that are totally gaudy (sp?).... Honestly, I might prefer them to other finishes, but I could see waf being quite low on them.

Tickets are dead to me.  Except the ones I have, don't have, and lost.  Not to mention the ones you have, don't have, and lost.   And the ones that other dude has, doesn't have, and lost.  Let me know if you need some tickets, I'm happy to oblige.

Maybe hire Christopher Lowell to stencil something on them ?   :P

If you like clean and extended sound, grab 'em !

Why do I think that an Agon user named "Gr8ful" would skulk around here ?    ;D

Have you guys actually tried getting a piano black finish at home?  I have been trying now for three months, finally broke down and bought a paint sprayer, but it is REALLY hard either way to do it right!

Well  I did it!  The piano white actually does look pretty sharp.   Bought those suckers for $800   :o   :o   Slamming deal for speakers that ran $3600 new.  Still sound fantastic.  Very neutral and crisp sound.  Fantastic with jazz!

Here's the new speakers.

And the 803s dwarfing my old 601s.  Brooke said I get to keep the 601s for use in our next house (we move every couple years due to promotions).  She rules!
