Woohoo
« on: July 05, 2006, 10:50:27 AM »
So since this was kinda lost on my co-workers, I came here. I managed to get two working Dual 1125 TT of craigslist for free. I have been looking for a cheap/free TT for awhile. They aren't going through a whole automatic cycle but will play manually, which is fine with me.

These haven't been played for awhile, anything I need to do before I crank these up?

Did you do it yourself or have someone else do it? I am a TT noob for sure.

Thanks Mike. I will check all that out when I get it. My grandmother-in-law is going to give me a bunch of original pressings of 50's crooners, pop, jazz. I am looking forward to hearing them.

I would replace the cartridge before playing any of your records.  A bad cartridge can do a lot of damage to the vinyl grooves.  Congrats on the new toy.  Tables are a blast to use.  It's pretty amazing how much music you can check out at $3 a record.  I've got a stack of records that just blow away their CD counterparts.

QFT!

And I also love the fact that 1/2 of my LP collection probably never made it to cassette let alone CD.
Pockets full of nickels and nothing left to eat, and I'm stuck behind a semi on Soniat Street.

I am going to check out the local Record Exchange. They are closing/reorganizing/whatever and seeling off all of their vinyl at 50% off. Might be a nice way to start a collection.
