Any interest in this bundle?
« on: November 08, 2011, 11:00:08 PM »
Hello everyone:

Nothing for sale here (yet) - just looking for opinions:

We are looking to bundle a recorder and mics. We carry the Tascam recorders and the Roland R-05. Here are a few of the bundles were were considering:

Tascam DR-40 with a pair of Audio Technica U853's (actually this one is already available)
Tascam DR-40 with the Audio Technica BP4025
Roland R-05 with the MS-TFB-2 binaurals

Of course, there would be significant discounts by ordering them together. Any thoughts? Other suggestions?

Thanks!

Since you're asking us tapers, the bundle that makes most sense for a typical taper will always be stealthy cards + recorder.
I e U853 + either DR-40 or R-05. If I was to buy my first rig, I'd probably go for the R-05 if had to choose between the two.

Are the U853's custom Y-cabled with a 1/8" plug and intended to run on PIP? Or bbox/pre? Maybe that shows up as an add-on choice in your shop?
What about high SPL distortion? There's always been talk about AT mics being designed for 3-wire and applying the 4.7K mod. What's your take on that when offering this bundle? Is it suitable for loud rock settings?

Just my $.02 since you asked...
