Topic: edirol r-09 "powered" mic input?

I know the r-09 manual says no phantom power, after all that early hype about 48v. But the rep at NAMM claimed the unit supports 5v phantom power. You can hear him say it in this demo video: http://www.gearwire.com/mov/Edirol_R-09.mov Anybody tried the unit with a 5v mic? Can anybody give examples of the powered mics it does support?

Presumably that'd be "plug-in powered" electret mics.

Most commonly used for lavalier (e.g. Shure WL183) and binaural-style mics (e.g. Sonic Studios, cheaper Core Sound, Sound Professionals, etc.) and some consumer single-piont setereo mics (e.g. Sony ECM907) I believe.

AFAIK it's not a lower-voltage phantom, it's a completely different scheme, but I'm not a hardware guy...

I've heard both 3 volt and 5 volt mic power mentioned in Edirol releases, but waiting for customer loaner to arrive soon for bench testing of this and other performance unknowns. 

5 volt is also like Microtrack's 5 volt minijack.  This seems good for running most small low current electrets mics like DPA 4060 series, but likely not Sonic Studios DSM if R-09 is exactly like not OK MT 5 volt. 

If R-09 is 3 volt, then likely not so good for powering usual electrets and DPA, but better chance OK for DSM types with correct milli-amperage like Sharp MD and some Sony mini-DAT decks.

The user manual for my R-09 says the plug power is 3.3V.
