So I manage to loose about 3-5 flashlights a year while taping.. don't know how, don't know when.. usually after packing up it'll be left on the floor or something. Curious what y'all use in the field...
My dad works as a maintenance guy for a local corporation and turned me on to these Pelican lights they have there that he can get me for "free".. I think they probably retail for like $12 at hardware stores.. Seems pretty damn unbreakable to me, and cheap enough to loose! Plus you can get it in blaze orange for better visibility ;D

i got 2 blue maglights, been using them for over 80 shows, never lost one, but i have been thru all 4 bulbs.

Gotta love the space age polycarbonate resin. I'm wondering when the marketing geniuses who use the phrase "space age" will realize that the space age began over forty years ago? ;)
-
i have a brinkman LED light that i got from walmart, changed the batts once year, and I prolly did about 80 showz w/ one batt change 8)

You can buy more replacement bulbs too. Rat Shack used to sell them.
I've found the best way not to lose you flashlight is to put it on something like a sports whistle necklace and hang it around your neck.

I got this as a gift, but it's the best light I've ever used:

It is amazingly bright (said you can see it up to a mile away), and the battery lasts forever...

I use an AA maglite with my letherman supertool in a waist belt by portabrace and all the accesories by nite ize, cool

dave at micsupply.com sent me one of his taper lights (bright led) for free when he sent me some free replacement parts for my sabrasom mounts. it works quite nicely!
-
I have to agree...Micsupply sent me one of these:

I have had it more than a year with great results...so small the thing takes up no room in the bag as well
-
In Canada, Home Depot has these little flying saucer LED lights like the last one for $5. I find them really bright though...I prefer my mini mag lite with a good worn out battery. A fresh one draws too much attention!

A fresh one draws too much attention!
Yeah, cuz a 15 foot pole is very inconspicuous. ;)
-
I have an Arc Light. Not cheap, but the thing is indestructible, takes a standard AA batt, and lasts damn near forever on one batt (LED bulb). I have two: one with white LED, one with red.
-
A mini mini mag light on my keys, 2 mini mags, one for the patching setup, one for the full rig. I also have a Black Diamond 4 LED headlamp, that is choice & bright as sh*t, but that is primarly a night time camping/hiking tool, but it is hands free and works great for taping !
-
yeah, i know about getting more bulbs, i got some at walmart and they were cheap, been thru some of them too, i go thru those bulbs pretty fast it seems like.
-
I had one of the micsupply lights, but the plastic on mine broke so I couldn't attach it to a cord anymore. Now I'm all about some mini-mag with the little belt-holster-thingy.
-
The belt holster thing seems geeky to me.
Opps.... I almost forgot I AM a geek... ;D

i picked up one of those bad boys from ace hardware, they are nice lights, nice and rugged, very durable, i think they are waterproof if im not mistaken, is this the same pelican that makes the cases, i think it is, not sure though
-
Waterproof up to 500 feet :) Let's hope we never have to test that in taping circumstances ;D

KMART has cheap 1.99 LED lights I have one on my keychain and one in my bag at all times, and when the batteries run out I just buy a new one.
