xSVCD??
« on: September 11, 2003, 11:27:23 AM »
I just downloaded the Flaming Lips Glastonbury show in xSVCD format and it's not letting me burn in Nero although it let me import this into my DVD authoring software. Is xSVCD a mpeg-2 "DVD" source??

In other words I've never seen this format before and I'm not sure I want to waste a blank DVD on a SVCD source.

Any help would be appreciated....

I found this... but I'm still wondering about the quality issue??

---------------------------------

XSVCD stands for eXtendedSVCD. XSVCD has same features as SVCD but it is possible to use higher bitrates and higher resolution to get higher video quality. XSVCD is basicly everything that uses MPEG2 video, is not within the SVCD standard and burnt in "SVCD"-Mode.

and if it's a European source, be looking for PAL vs. NTSC thing
Different standards for television in North America vs. Europe - it won't play on your equipment unless you have the dual standard stuff (which is rare on consumer equipment).

You should be able to convert it to NTSC and that link above can lead you to how.  It's a deep, dark path... ::)
