Post by: Kindguy on November 29, 2003, 02:42:49 AM
Is phantom power just phantom power?

Is ther any sonic difference between different units? Like ps-2, stewart, ART ect.

I need a cheep solution to run a 3 mic mix with the UA-5.

i might have your solution, i have a single mic phantom power pack. might be getting rid of it don't really use it so.  its a whirlwind phantom battery pack, with neutrik connectors, runs on 2 9v's for 50 hrs @ 4ma draw.  i'll let you know if i don't want it, but i think power is basicly power, one might have a bit more noise than another, but doubt you'd be able to hear it.

A local Pawn shop has a Stewart 48v phantom power box that runs on 2 9v. They want 22.00 bucks for it.

It's pretty scratched up. but for 22 bucks I thought I may pick it up.

Looks like it may be a good deal right? I e-mail the guy to ask how much shipping will be. This is his reply. It's being shipped from Cali.

you can't provide phantom power via unbalanced connections (eg. mini-plug).
