Hey everyone,
Just making the jump from plug in power mics to condenser mics. How long do i need my mic cables to be? I have a 11ft manfrotto but want to assume that I would clamp on at times. What is a good length for both of these situations.
Thanks, Ted

eventually, you'll have the 10', 17', 25', 35', and 50' sets. And then your bag will weigh as much as mine.
my "go to" cables are 17' and 25'
Dude you forgot about 9, 16, 24, 34, and my favorite 49 foot.. cables. :P

I was thinking about AT8314-20R - 20 Ft as a good start up cable.

the 17's ended up being the split of the remnants of some interconnects,...
long story...
I'd planned on making longer mic cables, from some cut bulk cable; but I made more shorter interconnects. So I ended up with a pair of 17' (belden 1804 mini-quad spc's) taht were originally going to be 25's
Well wouldn't that be a "A short story" hahaha.... And not a "long story" ;D

I only have 1 pair of mic cables, 17' kind kables. I have a 15' stand and never run it all the way up. Ive never needed anything longer. The only time I ever had to push it a little was last summer (Warren Haynes at Mishawaka). Everyone was clamped to 1 stand and running a ways back because we couldnt take up that much space near the stand. So 17ft has never failed me and I think anything longer would just be adding weight to my bag. YMMV.

I'm getting a couple sets of 15 footers for my 10 foot stand.
