Title: What would be a great stealth setup
Post by: MATTZS on December 01, 2003, 07:34:02 AM
I'm just getting into taping. Looking to get a NJB3. What do you think would be a great stealth setup to use with this. I'm afraid of getting the upgrade bug as soon as I start, so I'm thinking is it better to front the money now? I don't know what the price range would be, so a few choices may be good. Thanks
Matt

*edit*
Please remember, I know nothing about any of this, mic types, a/d, ect.

what are you primarily going to be taping, stealth or open?  that'll help you get started on your choices (and help us give you ideas).

I would think stealth. Is open having a stand and all?

Agree.  I made this mistake.  Although, I would say that this wouldn't insure that you still wouldn't have an upgrade bug... even people with 'the best' stuff want more stuff!

Matt-
give us some more info, like what bands you'll be taping, in what size venues, and how much you have to spend.  If you have a couple G's laying around, go for the schoeps ;)

A couple of G's! Really, how about $500 maybe a little more. As for venues, all sizes really, same for music alot of different types. How about breaking it down - civic center, large club. Mostly rock, some softer. sorry to be vauge, I guess there isn't a cure all.  ??? I just want to get into taping and I want decent equipment that sounds good. I know thats all relative, so any pointers will be greatly appreciated, I won't hold you responsible in court ;)

heres a place to get you started with some mics and stuff for stealth taping.  http://www.soundprofessionals.com/  browse the rig pics section, and see what others have, there are some stealth pics in there, look at that thread, it has other links on it. peace.

you can get some great stealth mics with a Battery Box and a JB3 for under $500.

there have been a lot of threads here recently started by people in the same situation as yourself.  Many opinions have been given and it'll be a great place to start.
