Title: Toslink cable question
Post by: Chanher on December 02, 2003, 12:18:59 PM
My setup isn't complete yet so I can't test it but will this cable work for MD > PC transfer? I(with a MD deck w/digital output and optical soundcard of course) It is says the cable is for home theater systems.

Now if it does, I have the 8ft. version. Is it worth it to get a shorter cable? I have heard the shorter the better. Also, is it worth it to spend all the money on an expensive monster cable? Thanks in advance! :)

IF that is the plug that is on both ends of the cord, it should be fine.

i used a cheapy for awhile and then went out and bought a monster cable. so far i really like the monster better

fwiw: you could get a regular toslink cable on ebay from accessoryking for like 5 bucks.... his cables are great. but if your going to throw the extra buck in for the monster cable check ebay too. i bought mine on ebay for less than retail price, and it was new and in the box sealed

For optical connections, does it really matter? You're transferring data via light, isn't it like an on / off signal? You either have data, or you do not ... ?

I've been using inexpensive optical cables for a while, no problems. Usually just from SoundPro.
