Title: iTunes and 24bit
Post by: phreshie on April 06, 2008, 01:47:53 PM
Is iTunes turning my 24bit wav files into MPEG to play them ?
My first run with the P2 - I took the CF card thru a reader ( Mac didn't see the P2 w/ firewire ) imported the WAV's - Dropped em into iTunes and played em, perfecto ..... or no ..... is iTunes messin with me in the backround to turn those into MPEG to play them thru their front end ?

Curious ? :-\

why are you even using iTunes?
I personally do not like that program

Quicktime will handle your 24 bit files you can open the original WAV file and play it
of course if they are tracked out you won't be able to play them consecutively
or of course you can open them with editing software like:
Audacity/Amadeus Pro/Sound Studio etc. and play them there

I've never had a problem with my 5 year old iMac recognizing my P-2 via Firewire
that's odd that you are having trouble

Why do you think that is happening?

iTunes should be able to handle 24 bit wavs.  It uses Quicktime technology, so if QT can play'em iTunes should as well.

And no iTunes tech is not all MPEG based.

iTunes may default to convert files to its own format upon import.  You can change the setting so it won't convert.
