So just in the last few weeks my computer has started showing long file names cut off with with three dots. It never did this for me before a few weeks ago. How can I fix it so that I can always see the full name? Thanks!

Simple, you need to give the column more room. Just move your mouse cursor to the top of the column, between where it says "name" and "size" and your cursor should change into a bar with two arrows facing right and left. The just click drag the cursor to the right.
If you double click in that spot it will automatically open the column to the max width needed to read the entire file name of the longest file name.

EDIT :You beat me to it. :)
Where the list of files inside the folder are, there should be column titles.
Name Size Type Subject Category
ust move the cursor to where the above titles are separated. The cursor will
look like this when you pan over the spot <-I->.
Then left click and move the cursor over until the full title becomes visible.

I guess the problem was that I was looking in 'list' mode, and there is nothing to slide. I put it in 'details' view spread it out and switched it back to 'list' and it looks good now. Can't believe that I didn't think of that, thanks guys!

Never mind, problem still exists. Any other suggestions?

not sure.
Why not just use list mode for the folders and details for the files?
Choosing the list feature for my files does not cut off the titles for me.

Alex -- are you able to get it displaying correctly, even temporarily? If so, after getting it displayed correctly, try Tools | Folder Options | View tab | Apply to All Folders button and see if the formatting sticks.
