Title: 24 bit/ 96KHz play back issue
Post by: lordbelial on April 11, 2008, 02:56:51 AM
Hi everyone,

Yesterday I taped a show @ 24/96 for the first time. As soon as I got home I transferred the file and tried to playback but my player had random problems.

Then I tried to open the file in Wavelab but it said it had not enough memory to build the wave form. Sony Vegas did not recognice the file as "valid", and I can tell that the file is OK by so far.

Filesize is about 4 GIG, my playback system is home computer running on XP Service pack 2 and a Fast track pro 24/96 (TEORICALLY is capable of 24/96 playback).

Any config I'm missing out? Any tricks?

Thanks in advance!

most audio software won't recognize files over 2 gigs.  that's why most of us have our recorder split the files at 2 gigs or less.

you could open it in cdwave and split it into two or more files to be able to listen/edit.

Thanks for the advice. Yesterday was the first time running the PMD-671 and I think I forgot to set the auto-split filesize.

I'll try to open the file with cdwave. I hope it will work.

Thanks god I used the line-out of the PMD-671 to record a "backup" recording in 16/44.1 in my Iriver, so, in worst case scenario, the loss won't be that great.

cd wave will open it.  also adobe audition 3 will handle files over 2 gigs.  that was about all I liked about it ;)

SoundForge 9.0 also will open files up to 4GB.

Reaper will also work with the larger file size.

Thanks to everyone.
Just follow most of the advices in here. Loaded the whole file in CDWAVE and it was OK.
