I wonder if anyone knows a source for these 3/4" male to 5/8" or 3/8" female stand adaptors.
as far as I know this type was used on japanese mics and maybe cameras too.

What's the pitch of the 3/4? I could get some threaded rod and tap a 5/8 or 3/8 threaded hole for ya.

B&H photo has a great selection of adapters, clamps, and other taping necessities.

thanks for the offer mako
but unfortunately i m not sure about the pitch, looks a bit wider than 27 (which is the pitch size of the 3/8")
-
Common sizes and pitches are
* 1/4 x 20
* 3/8 x 16
* 5/8 x 27
Are you looking for the adapters that reduce a stock Nakamichi mic clip to either a 5/8 or 3/8? If so I'll have to get the pitch guage out tomorrow and measure the OD of that particular adapter. I've never seen it used for any other mic.
-
In the original post , the poster is asking about a 3/4 thread. Is that a typo?
PS There is nothing common about 5/8-27 thread!! It's was a $30 tap!!

The adapter that came with the Nak mic clips has an ID of 5/8. I'll have to measure the OD and the pitch but 3/4 is about right. It's the only thing I've ever seen that uses something larger than 5/8.
Since there seems to be some confusion here, simolino would you care to elabaorate what the adapter's original use was?
mako, where did you find a tap? I've called all my local sources looking for a 5/8-27 tap and die set and they all say such a thing isn't made. When I tell them them it's a music industry standard they tell me they can't get one, even the place that had the oddball 14-whatever it was that I needed to installl a Peugeot water pump. The owner of the car balked at the price of the set until he learned the only alternative was replaceing the engine. If your source of the tap has a t&d set, please let me know.
< The original Nak clips have an ID that is greater than 3/4 as a 3/4 course bolt slides right in past the threads. Don't know how much larger as the local hardware store only had bolts to 3/4 or metric to 16mm. I did measure the thread pitch for the mount. It's 14. Best guess for the size would be 21mm seeing how the 3/4 slid in with no problem. >

I had my boss order me a couple from McMaster Carr. He was able to slip it in with some orders for a new machine we bought. I'm a machinist by trade so ordering taps is not a huge deal here. Here are the part numbers:
Plug 2595A313 $35.23
Bottoming 2595A314 $35.23
I ordered one of each.

price, while steep will allow me to fabricate all those little oddball custom mounts and adapters I've been scheming on for the past couple of years; besides, the price for all three is about the same as a good custom stubby set of SCC cables, or a bad weekend in Dallas (a good weekend is much more expensive)

Very true. I just finish version one of my vert bar bassed on the shure model. About 2 hours of my time versus $70...

If you're only making a few external threads, you could always single-point thread it if you're any good at that.
-
it`s a 3/4" or 19mm , no mistake here
This size is of the fostex MxxRP series mics
pitch is wider than 27 (of the 3/8")
it looks more like the pitch of the 1/2" male part (of older neumann clips)
pic shows on the left the 3/8" and on the right the 1/2"
i need the 3/4" male with pitch size of the 1/2" , to 5/8" or 3/8" female

Estimating pitch by comparing side-by-side with another piece will get you in trouble. I have a set of thread gauges at work. If you want, send me the two pieces you want to mate and I'll either do it or tell you what you need to do it (if special tooling is required). PM me for details.
