Just saw that e-bay lists a lot (at least 50) iriver h120, all claimed brand new.
Get them while you can ;)
-
Is this legit, a good price, and do you think the batteries will be good? Thinking of grabbing one and making the jb3 a backup.

Looks good. It doesn't list the remote in "What's in the box" though, so think about that before you buy.
-
I saw a remote in that list too ;)
There is a possibility that the batteries of those players are indeed not very good given that LiIon batteries die of (not so) old age.
OTOH, you get one year warranty so they can't risk selling them with dead batteries...
If the battery is dead, it can always be replaced ;)

How much would it cost to get a replacement battery for one of these (are they easy to find)?
-
e-bay. I hear the battery is the same as the one in the early ipods (just need to switch the polarity)

Thanks for the links Deanq4, I'm going to read up on this.

While that battery looks ok, I'd rather buy one that is marked as CameronSino, but that's just me....
Honestly, I'd wait and see how the battery in the h120 is before buying the extra battery

Bought one of those CameronSino 2300mAH batts and it is amazing how much more life I got over the stock one. Remember newbies, the polarity connection is important if you go and get a batt listed as a replacement for 1G or 2G iPod, it is reversed.

The pile-on for a new battery reminds me of a great line in Blade Runner:
Roy Batty to Eldon Tyrell, "I want more life, f**ker".

Seeing that there are plenty of offerings for CameronSino h1x0/h3x0 batteries that do not require wire swapping, I wonder why you got an ipod one? Really doesn't make sense, or was it cheaper?

This one for example: http://cgi.ebay.com/2200mAh-HI-BATTERY-FOR-iRiver-H110-H120-H140-H320-H340_W0QQitemZ110243047977QQihZ001QQcategoryZ86541QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem (http://cgi.ebay.com/2200mAh-HI-BATTERY-FOR-iRiver-H110-H120-H140-H320-H340_W0QQitemZ110243047977QQihZ001QQcategoryZ86541QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)
You can't search for it, but you'll see SINO or something on the picture. The batteries are mostly gray + black. I noticed that most sellers of them are Hongkong based, that might help a bit too...

Whoa. Thanks for the heads up on polarity Shaggy, I would have never even thought of looking at that.

Petur, I bot the CameronSino 2.3Ah 1G/2G iPod batt before they offered iriver replacements (which was over two years ago). It seems now (in the past two years) they have the H1X0 batts with the proper polarity. I think I paid like $13 after shipping and handling....not sure if it is cheaper or not.
-
I don't think the price differs much, shipping is mostly more expensive than the battery ;)
