Title: Editing Digi-pops?

Can it be done?  I've had some troubles with a couple recordings.  I did Mule the other night, switched recorders, and have a bunch of popping going on.  I replaced the cable today, I think that fixed the issue, but I have a nice sounding recording that is popping.

Can it be fixed?

it can be depending how bad it is and how much time you want to spend on it. 


if the pop is VERY short you can zoom in close and actually cut it out and not be able to hear any glitch.  also the pencil tool can be useful to basically draw out the pop.  if it's very very short I find I get better results just cutting it out.

I just zoomed WAY in and cut the pop out and you don't miss a beat of music.   this will not always be the case ;)

Yeah; what they said. I don't know what software you're using, but Audacity (for Linux, anyway) has a "repair" effect that can sometimes smooth out pops (or the occasional clipped signal). I've used it with mixed success. It's a little finicky; but you can always undo the effect and sample a slightly different area (if it "misbehaves", just give it a little more information to work with). Good luck!

wavelab has a simialr tool called "declicker" or something. very effective.
