OK, I have a pair of the SP-CMC4's w/ hyper caps, bought them through the yard sale about 2 years ago. Basically these are the AT-853's as I understand it. The caps themselves have the AT logo on them. Is Sound Pro simply a distributor for A.T. or do they manufacture the bodies or ????. Just curious what makes these CMC4's & not AT-853's. Sorry for my ignorance, love the mics & it's no big deal just curious & I couldn't figure it out from the S.P. website. Thanks for any help & info. Chris

These mics are STOCK AT mics with a 3.5 mm gold plug soldered onto them. No one but Audio Technica makes AT mics.

In most smaller venues, cards will sound nicer than hypers..try and pick up a set of caps!

So S.P. mods them w/ the gold plug? Thanks. Also, just bought some Cards, should have them in a week or so. Appreciate the help guys.

Yep, the only thing SP does to them is terminate them in a 1/8" plug...
