The old Spica TC0-50's came this way.  That was about 15 years ago.  I had a pair.  They had a lovely mid range that was the result of some classy crossover design.  I would up giving them away when I moved to Mexico, though.  Spica use 1/4 felt around their tweeter and main speakers.  That's a lot cheaper than buying a kit.  As usual, YMMV.       8)
