Title: Using LSD2 w/ my AKG 483s
Post by: ccage on May 26, 2008, 10:25:15 PM
Picked up Nashphil's LSD2 in Yardsale and want to run w/ my 483s this summer.
What would be best set up w/ these 3 mikes?

Have an R4 w/ Oade T Mod on channels 1&2
Should i get channels 3&4 modded or go w/ Busman mod on the LSD2?
Thanks in advance for any/all input

Chris

if Doug does a warm mod I would look to get that mod for the 483's.  Hope to run into you at the railroad earth show at the variety coming up here.

run the donkey dick xy center and flank the 483's to the side. try swapping the channels at some point to decide which sounds better.

If you look at the polar plots for the LSD2, the Omni pattern is round on low frequencies and quite directional, almost figure 8, on high frequencies... which is pretty common among omni's in general, but I think this is perhaps a big more exaggerated here.  I've thought about running the LSD2 with crossed Omni (similar to XY or blumlein) along with my Senn ME-66's.  I haven't done it yet, because I haven't had the right time/place yet.  Someday...
