Title: Cheapest place for new DPA 4061's?
Post by: travelinbeat on June 11, 2008, 06:50:01 AM
Any ideas?  I'm looking at replacing my mics and I'm trying to price out a matched pair of DPA 4061's + perhaps an MMA6000.

Thanks in advance!

While I don't know of the 'cheapest place' to buy them, one thing I would look at is how long the warranty is- as an example, the Core-Sound HEB's I have were only 1 year, and are the same as the DPA's but DPA warranties them for 2 years. That is really important as I've had my mics fail and have had to buy out of my own pocket for the one mic where as if I had purchased from a good reputable dealer I would of not been out the money. Additionally what I have learned you want a dealer that will support you not only in the warranty period but also one that has the technical know how to deal with all your equipment associated with anything in the recording chain. I just recorded last night a concert, and after picking up my mics from a local repair facility, I still had my left channel go out on my R-09HR. When I picked up my unit, I brought My edirol in to test it out, and again- the left channel wasn't consistently coming through. Because I had a concert to record the next evening and no back up and NO TIME I had to try it out- and sure enough it went out a couple of times during the concert. When I picked it up these said it could be the Edirol, but it was doing it on my other recorder- so yes,it's possible it's the one, but during last night's concert I had to jiggle the battery box and the input into the edirol to get it working and I'm not sure where the problem is. So, the search continues for how to repair this thing. I'm thinking of doing away with the Core- Sound battery box anyway as it could be the issue or the mics, but it's one more thing to go wrong.

Any ideas?  I'm looking at replacing my mics and I'm trying to price out a matched pair of DPA 4061's + perhaps an MMA6000.

Thanks in advance!
