I was looking into getting an Audiohile 2496 but I really don't want to install a new card. Then I saw the Edirol UA-1EX. I thought this might fit the bill but I wanted to get some opinions. Anyone use it? Anyone like or dislike it? Is it any good?

Edirol has a reputation for resampling everything that you run through their devices, so I might steer clear...

For what purposes do you intend to use the device?

Converting Master DATs to CDR.

Most Edirol gear resamples digital inputs, and I'm guessing the UA-1EX is no different. Don't know if that's a concern for you or not when transferring DAT masters. It's a concern for most people, but not everyone. Installing an Audiophile 2496 should be pretty easy as long as you have space for another card.

Is the Audiophile my best bet for convert Master DATs to CDR via PC. I was hoping for a USB option but maybe I shopuld just go the card route.
