I'm curious if anyone has these micro Audix mics and if so, how do they sound? They're small, only 2" long, so it would be ideal for stealthers, and relatively affordable (<$400/mic).

Their frequency response is pretty poor for our needs - there's plenty of bass below 80hz that you'd be missing out on. You're better off going with the m1280s, IMO.

Thanks John Kelly. I did notice that for the hyper caps but the cardioids appeared to be pretty flat response according to the chart they had in their specifications pdf file. For that price, though, I'm not interested in being the first to find out that they don't sound great for concert taping 8)

I've used them for instrument mic'ing and I think they sound great (had a horn player who used them). But they probably wouldn't be the best for our needs.

Please give them a try if you ever get a chance or inclination to do so 8)

Sadly I don't own a pair, and since I don't actively run sound anymore the chance of me seeing another pair is very low.

If you look at the freq. graph it starts to roll off at around 100 hz but its a gentle roll down to -5db at 20 hz. There should be more than enough Bass from this mic.
Check it out for yourself....
