Title: Where did I go wrong?
Post by: taperwheeler on July 02, 2008, 02:59:23 PM
I recently taped my first realshow running my sp-cmc-8 mics with the at933 capsules.  I ran the mics directly in to my Microtrack 2 with the assumption that the units made to handle higher spl's and will provide enough power for the mics (5v).  Well, the recording came out pretty okay, but the low end is distorted at parts.  I'm wondering if running the mics thru the battery box and giving them the 12v power would have prevented this?

It was a pretty loud show.  Gonna up the recording to etree, hopefully by tonight.  Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

You might get a more accurate response if you could post a sample.

You would likely get better results running a battery box between the mics and microtracker. Im pretty sure those mics require 9v to get the best sound they can, unless you do something like the 4.7k mod. They will work with 5v, but really want 9v.
