I wrote flac transcoder for this purpose. it will copy the tags from the flacs as well

I only noticed it last week when I DLed and installed the new version at work.  I still have to update the version I have at home though...

Once you get the new one, I think there is a "convert" tab???  I can't remember, but I just used it to convert a bunch of FLACs for iTunes at work...

I will try that, I am guessing I have an older version.

Here's a couple of screen shots as to what I was talking about with Traders Little Helper.
I love this program.
First open the program.
Then click on format and a drop down menu will present itself.
Choose the third option on the drop down box, "Convert encoding format"

That will bring you to picture two.
The rest is simple. The highest quality mp3 setting is 0.

FWIW, I have had some odd white noise results when transcoding in TLH, LOUD white noise only.  Source is fine.  I'm using Easy CD-DA for file format conversion now.
