Title: Minidisc data recovery
Post by: ironbut on July 14, 2008, 08:26:19 PM
I know that lot of folks here have used minidisc recorders in the past. I still have a couple that I use (mostly for backup). There's a service in the UK that specializes in data recovery from these discs and I thought I'd pass it on. A typical recovery issue would be the lack of TOC. So, if you have a recording that you thought was lost forever, send it to these guys. Or, if there are lots of need for this, you can buy the recovery kit and pass it around after a group buy.

So far as I know, the British recovery service cannot help with the 1 GB Hi-MD discs, only the original minidisc.

SONY will recover the Hi-MD discs.  I believe they wind up at their Austrian facility.  It used to be free.  Check at www.minidisc.org to get the current status on this.

Cheers
