Title: 24>16 SF 6.0 Help
Post by: dgale on December 13, 2003, 01:27:46 PM
I need to resample/dither my 24/48 laptop masters from the Los Lobos shows at the Fillmore last weekend - I borrowed a friend's AD2K and am new to 24bit recording, so I'm not sure of the proper settings in SF 6.0 to  do the 24>16 conversion.  I assume you use the "bit-depth converter" under the "process" menu?  If so, what dither and noise shaping settings do folks recommend?  If anyone has a website link to explain the difference of all these settings, please let me know.

I saw in a previous thread that I should do editting first, then the 48>44.1, and then the 24>16.  I just need to know how to properly do the 24>16 conversion.

Thanks in advance for your help.

This is how I do it

first resample at highest quality setting (4) with anti-alias filter enabled.

Then bit depth conversion with triangular high-pass dither and high-pass contour noise shaping.

Good luck!
