Ok so I taped Rage against the machine on sat at lollapalooza, and if any of you were there or heard it was insane, they had to stop the shows three times because the crowd was so rowdy. Anyways I taped the show in the middle of the crazyness, the levels are to low, the crowd noisy and there are alot of tweaks to be made before I circulate (that is if we can bring the sound to what I feel is acceptable) I would like to deal with just one person, must be very skilled with mastering recordings and I would prefer if you live in the chicago land area. Also you must abide by my wishes to not circulate the show if it doesn't turn out to my standards. The show was recorded in 24/48 with Sonic Studios > D50
Thanks,
MD

I'm not trying to troll, so take that into consideration when I say this; I think that if this is something that bothers you, you'd do well to sit down and practice for a while with a good audio editor. I've known people who did transfers and saved copies for later regardless of the tapers wishes, once it's out of your hands, it's out of your hands. If you send it out, then it might not be tomorrow or next week, but odds on (not a guarantee, but odds on) that it would eventually circulate.
On that note, if you choose to do it yourself, then remember the general rule of thumb that less processing is better then more processing. Good luck, take care.

Can you post an MP3 sample (not a "great sounding" sample, not a "bad sounding" sample, just something average / run of the mill for the recording) so those who might have interest will have some idea with what they'll be working?
-
You sound like a bit of an eager beaver...
I'd wait and see what other recordings surface - Chances are pretty good there were other tapers (with better gear)
After that - I wouldnt get too excited unless you think you may have something approaching a "definitive" version...
I'd take this as your big chance to download Audacity (freeware editor) - and start learning the few basic tasks/processes that we all use. (I think only a few of us would claim to be "very skilled" in audio editing...)
If for some reason it turned out to be the only recording - then who cares how it sounds...? That alone would make it worthy of circulation.
I'd just track it as it is and hope a half-dozen "remastered" versions appear!

There's an AT943 version on Dime:

I will try and master the recording myself.

I would be highly interested in hearing this album if you do decide to make it available for our ears to hear.

Audacity is alot easier than what I was using. I was very excited for Rage and it's a shame that the tape turned out the way it did. It was the complete opposite of my Alpine taping experience. Full of people yelling as well as singing along but louder than the zach, and the sonic "sense" is all over the place, I was right in front of the soundboard on the left side, I appreciate peoples 2 cents. when I got home I was so upset by they way it sounded I wanted nothing to do with the recording (mastering wise), seeking help I came here (maybe a bit to soon). but I'll see what I can do on my own. wish me luck.

I'm guessing it was:
just one person, must be very skilled with mastering recordings and I would prefer if you live in the chicago land area. Also you must abide by my wishes to not circulate the show if it doesn't turn out to my standards.
I've gotten zinged for crap before, it happens, sometimes its even for taking the high road and doing something unpopular, but ultimately the moral/proper thing (the stealth debate here on TS is one topic I can think of that fits that). I think you could have said that if you were paying someone, but doing that and asking for a freebie I think is where you got into trouble. Thats my best guess. ymmv

This show just popped up on etree http://bt.etree.org/details.php?id=517497 (not sure if it allowed on there or not) but anyway I am curious of this was your (MD2545) recording or someone elses.....
-
Looks to be someone elses for sure.
No D50 or D100

its the same AT943 source from dime. No idea why it was put on etree.

Not that I know of.
Plus Lollapalooza doesn't allow open taping.
Maybe because it says festival on the torrent?
If so, that's weak sauce and someone should upload some Ribot or Sco(NOT MSMW BECAUSE THEY ARE HORRIBLE) torrents with festival in the torrent tittle.

Ugh. Downloaded that one and deleted it after a few minutes. Pretty poor quality, very low source to crowd noise ration and the audio sounds somewhat distorted. That said, I've made plenty of worse recordings. :o

Yah, I did the same thing. Try that MM source that a member here posted on Dime. It's a big improvement.
