What is the proper proto call  for making all four mics hot

well, the 744 only has 2 internal pre-amps and only supplies phantom power to those two channels.  the other two channels are line-in only.  if you want to run 4 mics, at the very least, you'll probably need an external pre-amp for those two extra channels.
